Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for International Graduates

Manitoba is a Prairie Province of Canada with the largest continental climate and innumerable water bodies making it the most pleasant place to live in. Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba, is Canada’s eight largest metropolitan city. Of all Canadian Provinces, Manitoba is the richest in agriculture and thus plays a major role the country’s economy. Manitoba hosts thirty-seven public schools. It is also home to five major Universities: The University of Manitoba, The University of Winnipeg, Université de Saint-Boniface, the Canadian Mennonite University and the Brandon University. Manitoba has grown and continues to grow through immigration as more and more people turn towards it due to its affordable cost of living, numerous job opportunities and welcoming communities and climate. Therefore, in order to catch the attention of skilled and talented immigrants, Manitoba has introduced the its Provincial Nominee Program. Following are the details of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for International Graduates:

Education Required to Apply:
Any training program at any recognized private or public vocational, post-secondary institution in Manitoba. Note that no language training programs are included in this. The program should be full-time and should at least have lasted a year after which on successfully completing it, you got your diploma, degree or certificate.

Job Requirements:
  • Your job should be a full-time and permanent job.
  • The job must not be a part of work-study program.
  • It should be a long-term job offered by the same employer for whom you worked full-time for at least a 6 month time period.
  • It must not be a self-employment job or a owner-operator job or a job where you are providing services an independent contractor.
  • If you are from a province other than Manitoba, you have to have a one year experience working for a Manitoba employer.
  • If you are an individual who does not need a work permit to work in Manitoba (e.g. Minister of Religion), you cannot apply for MPNP.

Employer Requirements:
Your employer must be registered or incorporated under an act of a legislature of a province or Parliament in Canada and must have a well-established business in Manitoba. The employer must provide proof of the fact that they can provide you a full-time long term job in Manitoba.

Language Requirements:
English or French language proficiency is required with at least 60 out of 100 points on the points assessment grid.

Settlement Plan:
  • A requirement of C$10,000 in settlement funds and a proof of the intention of living, working and establishing work and family life in Manitoba.
  • If you are a skilled worker, currently employed in Manitoba then you may not need to show the C$10,000 in settlement funds as MPNP will consider your income instead.

Manitoba Invitation Stream:
  • Open for only those candidates who have received an Invitation Letter from Manitoba to apply for MPNP.
  • Candidate has to be between 21 and 45 years of age.
  • The candidate must have stronger ties with the Manitoba Province than with any other Province.
  • The candidate must have at least a one-year, post-secondary certificate or training diploma, degree or certificate.
  • He/she should have at least two years of full-time work experience in the past five years.
  • IELTS test score of at least 5.

Manitoba Support Stream:
  • This is only for skilled workers who even though are not working in Manitoba, have a personal connection in Manitoba to support them.
  • The applicant has to score at least 60 out of 100 points on the MPNP selection grid based on Language Proficiency, Age, Work Experience, Adaptability and Education.
  • The supporter of the applicant must be either a close relative, distant relative or a close friend of the applicant and must be a Canadian citizen residing in Manitoba.
  • The supporter must also have the capability to support the applicant’s Settlement Plan.

Nomination Quota:
The nomination quota for the year 2015 is 5000.
